FRENCH LANGUAGE COURSE (FLC)-28 Duration: 16 Feb 2025 to 08 May 2025 (12 Weeks)

Course Information

Aim: The aim of this course is to impart elementary working knowledge on French Language for the selected Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks of Armed Forces for basic communication in the mission area.

Objective: Upon completion of the course, the participants will:

  1. Have working knowledge on French Language.
  2. Be able to communicate with locals (Spoken French).
  3. Develop skills in reading and writing.

Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI) Peacekeeping Operations Contingent Commanders’ Course (PKOCCC)-9 Duration: 22 Sept - 03 Oct 2024

Course Information

Aim of the Course. The aim of the Peacekeeping Operations Contingent
Commanders’ (PKOCC) Course is to prepare potential Commanders in the role and
responsibilities of contingent commanders in complex peacekeeping operations both for UN
Operations and other multinational operations.

Objectives.

The key objectives of the course are as follows:

  1.  Create an understanding of the complexity and characteristics of the operational environment in today’s conflicts and the commander’s role in an integrated mission.
  2.  Ensure understanding of the importance of Consensus, Coordination and Communication at the operational level among the military, humanitarian and political actors.
  3.  Develop awareness and understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the various components of complex peacekeeping operations.
  4.  Enhance understanding of the underpinning legal framework of UN peacekeeping operations and the attendant Integrated Mission Planning Process (including Status of Forces Agreement [SOFA] and Rules of Engagement [ROE]).
  5.  Create a common understanding of the UN system and various agencies in the field, including aspects of operational coordination.
  6.  Ensure understanding of the responsibilities and roles of the Commander to effectively lead personnel employed in peacekeeping operations.
  7.  Enhance understanding of the importance of addressing various cross-cutting issues to include, Human Rights, Gender and the implementation of Security Council Resolution (SCR) 1325, Code of Conduct and Discipline, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), etc, through sound leadership and administration.
  8. Understand the elements of conflict management, and develop skills and the ability to apply basic principles of negotiation and mediation.

c. Develop skills in reading and writing.

Women, Peace and Security Course (WPSC)-11 Duration: 08-12 Sept 2024

JOINING INSTRUCTION

Course Information

Aim of the Course. To promote a better understanding on the United Nations'
policies, guidelines and principles of Women, Peace and Security.

Objectives.

The key objectives of the course are as follows:

  1.  Learn UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 (2000) and other related resolutions and implications.
  2.  Explore the important concepts on gender issues.
  3.  Understand four pillars of WPS, i.e. Prevention, Protection, Participation and Relief & Recovery.
  4.  Understand the conceptual and operational issues involved in integrating a gender perspective into multidimensional PO.
  5.  Apply theoretical knowledge in understanding WPS through various learning activities.

Military Peace Keeping Intelligence (MPKI) Train The Trainer (T3) Course(Netherlands) Duration: 06-24 October 2024

JOINING INSTRUCTION

Course Information

Aim of the Course. This course aims to equip participants with the relevant educational knowledge and expertise according to UNMPKI training materials to enable them to provide a UN certified MPKI T3 course as part of PDT program for deploying intelligence officers to UN Peacekeeping Operations (UNPO).

Objectives: An overview of expected medium to long term effects of this activity is as follows:

  1. The participants are expected to gather new learning and experience as they have the opportunities to exchange their ideas and views with other participants and facilitators.
  2. The participants will have better connectivity (among themselves) to discuss/share their experience/views/ideas in the future days which will improve their knowledge and skills.
  3. The participants will be able to deliver the same training materials to their Armed Forces Officers with a view to preparing them for U2/G2/S2 assignment in mission area.
  4. The participants are expected to improve the training material as and when required and when new lessons and experiences are available.
  5. The participants will be able to perform as facilitator in delivering the same to other Member States.
  6. The participants who will be trained on the training material by these qualified trainers/facilitators in their home country, they will be able to perform more effectively as Intelligence Staff Officers in the mission area.
  7. The UN Intelligence activities and its effectiveness will be enhanced and more productive in the mission area.
