United Nations Staff Officers’ Course (UNSOC)-17 from 29 January to 16 February 2017

Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT) regularly conducts the United Nations Staff Officers’ Course (UNSOC) for the potential Staff Officers from home and abroad in order to prepare efficient staff officers to discharge responsibilities effectually in a UN peacekeeping mission. The UNSOC-17 is scheduled from 29 January to 16 February 2017. A team of Subject Matter Expert Instructors with deliberate knowledge and experience in UN assignments are dedicated for conducting the course.

Aim.    To prepare the selected/potential staff officers through the UNDPKO set training standards with a view to ensuring a skilled military approach to help work proficiently at various headquarters in UN Peacekeeping Operations.

Training of Trainers (ToT) on International Humanitarian Law (IHL)-1 from 02 to 06 July 2017

 

Objectives:

 a.         Introductory knowledge on ICRC, its mandate and activities. 

b.         Essentials of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) or Laws on Armed Conflicts (LOAC) including its origin, meaning, applicability, basic principles, protected persons and objects, sanctions, etc.

 c.         Differences and similarities between International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL) and their interplay.

 d.         Non-international armed conflicts and internal security operations, emphasizing the differing laws and modes of operation that apply during such operations.

 e.         Peace Support Operations and relevancy of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL) in them.
