To impart specialized multifaceted training to national and multinational military, police and civilian participants on peace operations in accordance with current international standards through research, education and professional programmes.
To promote global peace and security as an international Centre of Excellence.
BIPSOT has designed a comprehensive 03 weeks training package for the potential contingent commanders who are likely to be deployed soon in the mission area. The first UNCCC was conducted in Apr 2007, which was attended by 15 local and 02 overseas officers. The aim is to prepare the contingent commanders in all aspects of peace support operation and help them in taking the correct decision during a critical situation.
Pre deployment training has been made compulsory for the selected contingent members of the ear marked contingents. The training module is based on “Train the Trainer” concept for a duration of 2 weeks. These trained personnel in turn train their contingent members in respective concentration areas. A mobile training team from BIPSOT supervises the training on requirement basis. This is a mission specific course i.e. other than the SGTM contents a comprehensive brief is provided on their respective designated mission area.
Till 2006, BIPSOT training curriculum consisted of Pre Deployment Training, Potential Observers and Staff Officers Course, Warrant Officers and Non Commissioned Officers Peace Support Operations Course and Contingent Members Course. Recently, the courses have been reviewed as per the latest guidelines and policies of ITS. Moreover, it is the process of incorporating the newly formulated United Nations Military Units Manuals.
