United Nations Gender Adviser (UNGENAD)-3 Course Duration: 01 – 05 October 2023 (1 Week)

As war affected populations, Women and Children in particular are at risk to arbitrary violence and deprivation of physical, material and legal safety, United Nations Peace Operations (UNPO) play a vital role in the Protection of Civilian (POC) and Human Recourses through their function. Therefore, Security Council now systematically includes Human Right (HR) mandates in multi-dimensional mission. Sexual violence, when used or commissioned as a tactic of war in order to deliberately target civilians, can significantly exacerbate and prolong situations of armed conflict and may impede the restoration of international peace and security. While women and girls are particularly at risk to Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), men and boys are also affected. Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) are also big threats to both women and girls, men and boys. Therefore, effects to prevent CRSV should also tackle the risk of GBV or SGVB.
