16th INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEACEKEEPING TRAINING CENTERS (IAPTC) ANNUAL CONFERENCE -2010

The 16th International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (IAPTC) Annual Conference-2010 was held from 28 November to 02 December 2010 at Dhaka. 108 overseas delegates from 32 IAPTC member states participated in the conference. Bangladesh Army hosted the event and Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT) was given the responsibility to organize the conference. In first four days, conference was held at Hotel Radisson. Finally on 02 December 2010, the delegates visited BIPSOT to witness a Demonstration on Protection of Civilians in Peacekeeping Operations scenario.

On 28 November 2010, Honourable President of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh Md. Zillur Rahman was present as Chief Guest in the Opening Ceremony. On 01 December 2010, Air Vice Marshal A K Khandoker, BU (retd), Honourable Minister, Ministry of Planning was present as Chief Guest in the Closing Ceremony.

 The President of IAPTC is selected for one year and is from the organization hosting the annual conference that year. The Presidency rotates among Africa, America, Asia and Europe.  Mr. Frank Prendergast, Assistant Commissioner of Australian Federal Police was the President of IAPTC for 2010. In this conference the presidency was handed over to Bangladesh and Brigadier General Abul Basher Imamuzzaman, ndc, psc, Commandant, BIPSOT became the new President of IAPTC for 2011.
