BIPSOT-ICRC joint seminar on "Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict" conducted at BIPSOT on 15 November 2016
International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) and Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT) jointly organized a day-long Seminar on ‘Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict’ at BIPSOT on 15 November 2016. It may be mentioned that in last year similar seminar was also conducted at BIPSOT.
The aim of this instruction is to delineate various functional areas concerning this seminar with associated tasks and responsibilities.
Theme of the Seminar. The theme of the Seminar is ‘Sexual violence in Armed Conflict: Breaking the Silence to Breaking the Cycle - Peacekeeper’s concern’. Following four topics were presented and discussed during the seminar:
a. Topic 1. “Sexual violence in armed conflict: Underlying causes and prevention strategies".
b. Topic 2. ‘The Changing role of Woman in Military- Changing dynamics in Sexual Violence and Armed conflict’.
c. Topic 3. ‘Prevention of sexual Violence in Armed Conflicts and post conflict situations- Law, Operational Doctrine and Training’.
d. Topic 4. "Prevention and criminal repression of rape and other forms of sexual violence during armed conflicts".
