UN Military Unit Manuals (UNMUM) Implementation Regional Seminar conducted at BIPSOT from 26 to 28 April 2016
BIPSOT organized the UN Military Unit Manuals (UNMUM) Implementation Regional Seminar on 26-28 April 2016.The seminar is intended to promote a greater understanding amongst Member States, planners at Joint Staff and Peacekeeping Centers about the various standards and guidelines developed recently by Office of the Military Affairs (OMA), DPKO, UNHQ including 11 manuals developed under United Nations Military Unit Manuals (UNMUM) project.
The expected outcome of the seminar is to ensure standardization and subsequent use of manuals and other guidelines by Member States while planning, generating, training and deploying the peacekeepers. The experts/resource persons from home and abroad including UN Panel will discuss on all the important issues related to global peace and security in the seminar with a view to developing shared understanding and effective contribution by the Member States in multidimensional peacekeeping operations.
The three days seminar spreaded over six sessions under four broader themes covering ‘Strategic Overview of Peace Support Operation’, ‘International Peace and Security - A Shared Responsibility’, ‘UNMUM and Its Prospect’ and ‘Training of Peacekeepers - A Global Approach’.
