Exercise Tiger Lightning (Ex TL)-3/2022

Ex TL-3 is a bilateral exercise and STAFFEX on Peacekeeping Operations organized by Bangladesh (BD) Army and United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) including Oregon National Guard (USA). The duration of this exercise was from 06-31 Mar 2022. In this exercise, 125 Bangladeshi participants, 43 USA participants and two UK Observers actively participated. Chief of General Staff, BD Army inaugurated the Opening Ceremony where Major General Stencel, Adjutant General, Oregon, US Army was the distinguished guest. During this exercise, training on Combat Life Saving, C-IED and STAFFEX added expertise and cemented bonding as well as cooperation between BD and US Army personnel. Chief of Army Staff, BD Army adorned the Closing Ceremony of EX TL-3/2022 as the Chief Guest. UK High Commissioner in BD; Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy in BD; Major General Neal, Deputy Commanding General, USARPAC were the distinguished Guests in the Closing Ceremony.

Under the auspices of Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI), BIPSOT hosted two UN Peace Support Operation (PSO) exercise. The first one was in 2002. It was a multi platoon exercise code named “EX SANTI DOOT”. The second one codenamed EX SHANTI DOOT-2 was in April 2008. The exercise was co-hosted by US Army Pacific Command (USPACOM) and Bangladesh. EX SHANTI DOOT-2 consisted of a CPX, which was held at Hotel Radisson from 01 Apr to 12 Apr 2008 and a FTX at BIPSOT from 01 Apr 2008 to 20 Apr 2008. BIPSOT was responsible for conducting the FTX. Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, South Korea, Tonga and USA participated in this Exercise. Bangladesh had 2 platoons and all other countries had one platoon each for this exercise. The purpose of the ex was “to enhance understanding through cooperation while increasing the interoperability and readiness of participanting forces in the areas of planning and executing PSO.”
