Course Information

Aim:

The aim of this course is to impart elementary working knowledge on Sango
Language for the selected Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks of BD Army
for basic communication in the mission area.

Objective:

Upon completion of the course, the participants will:
a. Have working knowledge on Sango Language.
b. Be able to communicate with locals (Spoken Sango).
c. Develop skills in reading and writing.

United Nations Civil-Military Coordination (UNCIMIC)-1 Course Duration: 05 – 16 May 2024

Course Information

Aim of the Course:

The course will enhance capacities of participating nations by developing peacekeeping leadership capabilities and increase the number of trained civil-military coordination officers available for selection in UN and other peacekeeping missions.

Objectives:

The specific objectives of the UNCIMIC are to enable the participants to:
a. Recognize major civil-military coordination issues in modern UNPO.
b Understand the UN role and responsibilities in UNPO education and training.
c Review the civil and military coordination structures in different mission models.
d Understand national role and responsibilities concerning UNCIMIC education and training for deployment.
e Establish baseline liaison and coordination skills necessary to operate within a peacekeeping mission.

Comprehensive Protection of Civilians (CPOC) Duration: 18 – 23 May 2024

Aim of the Course:

This course aims to familiarize participants with CPOC concept and mechanism for mandate implementation.

Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the concept of POC in Peace Operations (PO).
  2. Explain the legal and normative frameworks that support the CPOC.
  3. Discuss different modalities adopted for CPOC in PO at strategic, operational and tactical level.
  4. Identify the need for a CPOC plan and implement the mandate.

Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) Engagement Platoon Course- 2 Duration: 21 – 25 Apr 2024

Course Information

Aim of the Course: 

This course aims to prepare and enhance the institutional capacities of peacekeeping training centers to be able to facilitate and deliver training for female, male officers and soldiers to be deployed to multidimensional, integrated peacekeeping missions with a Protection of Civilians mandate in the roles, responsibilities and tasks of an Engagement Team(ET).

Objectives:

  1. Develop awareness and understanding of the responsibilities and roles of the ET to effectively operate in peacekeeping operations with a Protection of Civilians mandate.

  2. Create an understanding of the complexity and characteristics of the operational environment in today’s conflicts and the ETs role in an integrated mission.

  3. Create a common understanding of UN peacekeeping operations and various agencies in the field, including aspects of operational coordination.

  4. Understand the elements of Protection of Civilians, including Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and Child Protection, and develop skills and the ability to respond to these issues.

  5. Enhance understanding of the importance of addressing various cross-cutting issues to include Human Rights, Gender and the implementation of SCR 1325, Code of Conduct and Discipline, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) etc through sound leadership and administration.

  6. Develop the capacity of female officers and soldiers to enhance effectiveness of operations to protect civilians, particularly in regard to community engagement and information gathering.

  7. Enhance the presentation and facilitation skills of participants with a focus on facilitating scenario-based exercises.
